Charities

As a company, Colliers New Zealand recognises the work undertaken by local schools, groups, not-for-profits and sports teams and strives to offer encouragement in terms of the resources and investment needed to thrive. A live auction is held during the long lunch, with unique and highly valuable experiences up for grabs. Some of these experiences are not available to the public.

The money raised has enabled a long-term commitment to charities which share similar values and purposes, thus having a greater impact on communities through giving back in a meaningful way.

Year-on-year we are blown away by the generosity and enthusiasm that our guests bring to this event.

Please read about the charities that are supported below:

Wakatipu High School Foundation

The Wakatipu High School Foundations vision for all students to be enabled to meet their potential in a supportive and well-resourced environment. The school's goal is to provide New Zealand's best all-around education to its multinational student community of over 1,400 students. The Wakatipu High School Foundation was formed in 2013 to supplement funding from the Ministry of Education.

Through 45 South, we have been able to support the Wakatipu High School Foundation since its inception in 2013. Such a commitment to long-term projects enables Colliers to have a greater impact on the community and to give back in a meaningful way.

Life Education Trust

The Life Education trust’s purpose is to inspire Tamariki and rangatahi to make positive choices. Their vision is for all children and their communities to have the life education that they deserve. Through education they strive to help young people to understand how decisions they make today can affect their future health and wellbeing.

Colliers recognises that through education the work the Life Education Trust is doing to help young people throughout New Zealand is invaluable. Being able to contribute to such a well-established program, that has an impact across the wider New Zealand community.

Graeme Dingle Foundation

The Graeme Dingle Foundation was put in place to help provide children and young people with the tools they need to succeed in life. Since 1995, the Foundation has offered several high-quality programmes to work with tamariki and rangatahi at different life stages. The Foundation was founded by Sir Graeme Dingle and Jo-anne Wilkinson, Lady Dingle, and they continue to work tirelessly towards the Foundation’s goals.

Operating through schools and communities, the Graeme Dingle Foundation campaign actively helps young New Zealanders achieve their potential. The programmes cover diverse content, from navigating a career path and dealing with challenges, to teaching integrity and respect.

Currently over 26,000 people in 10 regions across Aotearoa New Zealand benefit from the programmes every year.

The work the Graham Dingle Foundation does to improve outcomes for New Zealand’s youth is inspirational. Colliers ongoing commitment to support such an established and respected charity enables us to have not only an impact in our local Otago community, but also nationally.

Otago Community Hospice

Otago Hospice works in partnership with its community, offering education, support, care and advice to whānau, carers and health and social service professionals, through a patient’s illness and following death. Around 250 people are supported at any given time, with more than 760 patients cared for each year in Otago.

Their region’s footprint is large and their community's needs are increasingly complex. Hospice is primarily funded by the newly formed Te Whatu Ora, but rely heavily on the community to fundraise the shortfall they face each year.

Through 45 South, we can contribute to the exceptional work the Otago Community Hospice are doing in helping people with terminal illness to live and die well in the Wakapitu region.

Each year the ‘secret’ location hosts choose a local charity close to their heart that a portion of the funds raised go towards. In 2024 the charity chosen was:

Glenorchy Early Learning Centre

As a growing region Glenorchy’s community needs a multi-use community childcare facility, benefitting families and businesses alike in the region. The proposed Glenorchy Early Childhood Education Centre (GYECEC) is a community led opportunity to promote high quality early childhood services for young children and their families centred within the Glenorchy community. This centre will be an essential service for our isolated community, aiming to support the town by keeping families local through offering regular and reliable childcare that is also community led.
